In Matt 4.1-2 it says that: "Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil." Was he led by a visible and audible spirit, or was the holy spirit in him and guided him there ?
Matt 4.2-3 "And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred."
What is the point of fasting for 40 days and forty nights? Is it a jewish tradition ?
Matt 4.3-4 " And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread"
Who is the tempter, and why did he come to Jesus?
Matt 4.5-6: "Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple"
Did the devil show up in a visible and audible form and took him to the holy city ?
Thanks

4 men in scripture faste4d 40 days:
1. Moses
2. Joshua
3. Elijah
4. Jesus
Hunger always leaves after a few days of fast and returns after a long fast of about 40 days, or when all toxic poisons have been expelled from the body. The breath at this time becomes as sweet as a babys. Any normal, healthy person can fast this long without any harm. Starvation only begins after hunger returns in such cases . Once must use water in long fasts and BREAK THE FAST GRADUALLY.
Though Jesus certainly had no lack, fasting combined with prayer is the cure for unbelief [Ps. 69:10]. Look at it this way: faith needs prayer for its development and full growth. Prayer needs fasting for the same reason. Fasting with prayer is Biblical doctrine and truth.
What action was involved in the fall of man? Eve ATE the apple so eating is involved in man's original sin and fall from grace! Fasting humbles the soul before God [Ps. 35:13.], chastens the soul [Ps.69:10] crucifies the appetites and then denies them. It manifests earnestness to God and shows obedience above all else and all fleshly matters. It demonstrates man's mastery over his/her fleshly appetites and shows the flesh is under submission at the time of the fast.
