But the "enemy," who insists on the truth, isn't the enemy of reason. He's only the "enemy" of those who teach their own brand of "faith-based" fundamentalism.
1. Reasoning holds that truth should be determined by reason and factual analysis, rather than faith, dogma, tradition or religious teaching.
2. Blind faith holds that faith is necessary, and that beliefs may be held without evidence or reason, or even in conflict with evidence and reason.
And if one believes through blind faith alone, anyone who doesn't share that view is an "enemy of Christ", right? But Christ probably doesn't think so!
OP, which enemy would this be, then? Because a few Christians--we'll call them, the fundamentalist nutballs--seem to do far more to discredit Christianity than any external "enemy" ever could.
All I'm hearing from Tony there is anyone who practices a more tolerant and forgiving type of religion than he does (using selected quotes), is doing the devil's work.

Jesus is referring to the water of the Word, not physical water. Water can't wash away sin, only the blood of the Lamb can do that. We must be born of Jesus' spirit and His Word.
Ephesians 5
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Church membership can't save nor water baptism nor good works, only the blood of Jesus can save.
