Prayer request for three (suicide, prayers, faith, God)

Specifically for a man in his 40's suffering with juvenile diabetes. He's lost a leg already, has had a heart attack already. Has lost alot of his sight. This man is very open with me and shares he's an alcoholic and thinks often of ways to kill himself. Last week in the middle of the day while drunk, he was in an accident with a semi. He was at first doing it on purpose but at the last moment grabbed the steering wheel.
His wife struggles with deep depression and has tried to commit suicide a couple times since I've known them. (about 6 months time)
The man's older father also has a bad drinking problem and also schemes how he can kill himself.
I am told all these things and find myself at such a loss as to how to help.The authorities have been in and out of their lives and there is some counseling involved but does not seem to be helping.
The man had been in prison and said it was when he was the closest to God and in the Word.
