Something fulfilled and yet not abolished means what ?
It means it has an expiration date.
Old milk with an expiration date will be replace with new milk with an expiration date again. Old prescriptions with an expiration date will be replaced with new prescriptions with an expiration date again.
Old law in the bible with an expiration date will be replaced with new law with legalism again.
Example: You have heard it has been said (Old Law) Now I say unto you (New Law)
The Pharisees adhered to the letter of the law very good. The Lord called them whited sepulchures that look good on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanliness.
Christ says clean up the inside of the cup first and then the outer will be good.
The issue is ultimately the heart. Jesus talks about cleaning up the heart.
Christianity is not about attempting to adhere to a list of rules. It is about a life transformation by God's Spirit working in the heart of Man.
In obedience from the HEART, one obeys Christ's commands.
Be careful not to stumble at the same stumbling stone as the Pharisees.
They never put their trust in God's Messiah, but attempted to approach Him with adherence to a written law.
And they were ground to powder as the Lord states.
