The thief is satan, the strong man Jesus. Jesus defeated satan in the wilerness and at the resurrection He defeated satan's ultimate weapon, death.

Mathew 12:29 (KJV) 29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
The Strong man in this case represents a demon spirit. To bind him is to take away his authority or power to be there. The house represents a person’s body. The goods that this person has in his heart are evil. The burglar that you are referring to is Gods Word, Jesus. The word of God will spoil, diminish, the evil goods that is now there. Remember Jesus is the Word.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.
Math 8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
When Jesus forgives, that is what binds the strong man. The devil is their because of our sin

The thief is satan (a.k.a. evil, temptations, bondage, sinful slavery), the strong man is you. This parable is in "The gospel of Thomas" too. Jesus tells us that we should fortify ourselves with the armor of truth and being filled with the holy spirit (pure spirit); EX:moderation,righteousness,forgiveness,clean/pure thoughts, love, peace making etc.

Jesus Spirit had me pray during a challenge last year with some illness of people I was praying To Loose the strongman over this issue , and to bind him up and caste him down to the pit in Jesus name ..... Jesus Spirit said that this prayer was opening the door greater in a complete redemption of the issue ..... Also I found that the strong man to the Lord Spirit was the fallen angels were the bible calls spiritual wickedness in the high places who can gain authority over curses and must be remove for the curse to be gone , were then once gone Jesus will finish the Work and heal the body...... If you need curses gone you should seek the Lord Spirit in Jesus name and be obedient to his lead were you can grow in the callings of spiritual warfare through Jesus Blood ..... But you must obey His lead and second you must love the Lord with honor to his Word .....
