A very good article.

BBC News - Association of Catholic Priests discuss Church's future

"An organisation which represents more than 850 priests in Ireland has been meeting to discuss the future direction of the Catholic Church.
The Vatican has recently criticised leading members of the Association of Catholic Priests (ACP) for expressing views which contradict Church teaching.
The ACP meeting comes at a turbulent time for the Church in Ireland."

From that article:
Quote:
During that period, a number of priests have openly expressed their desire for change in Church rules on matters such as clerical celibacy, the ordination of women and the ban on contraception.
Quote:
The survey also found that 77% of Irish Catholics want women to be ordained, while more than 60% disagreed with Church teaching that gay relationships were immoral.
This is so stupid. None of these issues caused or have any relationship with pedophilia and the way some Bishops have handled, or mishandled the abuse claims. None of these issues are relevant to corruption in the leadership. I'm all for holding the leadership accountable for their role in the sex scandal, and therefore reclaiming credibilty and a better "direction" for the Church in Ireland and abroad, but these other issues are irrelavant in respect to it. If only "dissident" Catholic priests and laity would only focus on holding the Bishops accountable for their handling of sex abuse claims, and stay away from these other liberal and divisive stances, then I would support them.

And the Apostles didn't devise their teachings by taking a survey.

The church (like most churches) committed the most egregious negligence in their stewardship of the faith by stagnating knowledge and understanding at the 1st century level of ignorance and superstition. They allowed the substantial advances in knowledge to pass them by without the remotest effort to improve and revise their understanding of God from the benighted and ignorant views of savages and primitives. The hierarchy is a corrupt and evil enterprise of self-appointed autocrats and foolish old men.
