Any advice for a Chicago bar where strong pours are the norm for mixed drinks (i.e. vodka/soda, rum/coke)? I'm getting fat drinking all this good beer and I'm getting sick of weak pours when having a cocktail.

I know, I know....cocktails are not going to help my expanding waistline, but I would rather frequent a place where I can actually taste the alcohol over the mixer when ordering a mixed drink. Or a place where doubles are reasonably priced.

Something located anywhere north of the Loop, but south of Uptown...so LP, LV, Wriggley, Old Town, Gold Coast, etc.

Many thanks.
DM

Go somewhere regularly. Get to know the bartenders. Talk about how you love a good strong drink. Tip them well.

Also check out Ceres. Their vodka & cranberries are light pink.

I know I've had good strong pours at several places, but the problem is I can never remember where.

Back when there were stockyards and steelmills on the South Side, lots of bars had strong poors ...

Why don't you just order straight up or on the rocks? That way, they can never fool you.

I love Ceres. I am a regular. I don't drink much there but I've heard for years about their strong drinks.
