You know, Avengerfire, it's really insanely hypocritical of you to voice a counter-claim accusing me of making things up without providing ANY source or evidence of your own. Without sources you're just as likely to be wrong as I am, so perhaps the expression "put up or shut up" is appropriate? The info on the links I gave you last time should have been enough for anyone who is familliar with Chicago, even if it wasn't quite as specific as you'd have liked. But, just to put another nail in the coffin of the idea that Chicago workers don't drive to work:

In 2000:
26.7% of Chicago city residents commute by transit.
Which was down from 30.2% in 1990.

Notice on that on that link, the "Don't drive to work" column for Chicago reads "33.02%" and the row is specifically named "Chicago city," so by simple arithmetic we come to 66.98% of the Chicago city workforce driving to work.

It's possible that the long-term trend of increasing car commuting reversed over the past 10 years and less people drive to work in 2010 than did in 2000, but if it did I doubt it would have done so so dramatically to have dipped below 50% of the workforce driving. Hence, I stand by my assertion that MOST (by which I mean over 50% of) Chicago workers drive to work.

P.S. I lost the supporting link in a browser crash, and I refuse to find it again, but only about 24% of Metra commuters walk to their station. Given the low PACE ridership numbers, that means the vast majority of Metra riders are partially drivers, too.

Do you know how many people (especially in Chicago) (especially illegals as well) do not participate in the census?

"Results show that 82% of households in Chicago and 38 surrounding suburbs use the CTA at least occasionally while 48% of households use the service regularly."

"The CTA's ridership continues to grow and has increased 7.5% to 450.5 million in 2000"

"CTA rail ridership was just over 202 million for 2009, an increase of around 2 percent. Bus ridership in 2009 was about 319 million, a nearly 3 percent decrease."

Source: CTA Ridership Dipped Slightly in '09 | NBC Chicago

That is about a 71 million increase in rides between 2000-2010.
