What's the deal with this area and surrounding blocks? Anyone live here? I can tell it's heavily Hispanic but I'd like to know a bit more before considering a move there.

I have a friend that lives just south of the border with Rogers Park on Clark and Granville. She likes it just fine and has two small children. It gets pretty gritty as you head north from Devon and there are lots and lots of liquor stores along Clark that bring a seedy element. I'm a little surprised that you say it's mostly Hispanic since the liquor stores and bodegas are mostly owned by Middle Easterns or S. Asians and frequented by African Americans. Rogers Park as a neighborhood is very diverse but I'm not sure how the sub-sects of the neighborhood are racially. The whitest parts seem to be around Albion and the lake and then much further west around the city boundary with Lincolnwood.

There is lots of info on Rogers Park throughout this forum if you search for it. You'll find that Rogers Park is a controversial neighborhood. People love it or hate it. If you want my specifc thoughts about RP message me and I'd be happy to share.

I also live on Granville and clark - just one block south of Devon. The neighborhood there is fine, its a bit more sketchy further north. Check it out yourself - a bit street wise gets you a long way. I wouldn't have a problem living there. let me know if you have more specific questions.

It's no Naperville, but it looks rougher than it really is. It's mostly just old-school, working-class, immigrant-infused urban grit.
