I'll have to go check those out then.

I'm going to visit the new Target field this summer, so that ought to be exciting. I though the old dome with the baggy wall was a joke. Well, most of my vitriol comes from the fact that I hate the twins and their annual thumping of the sox.

I'm trying to convince my fiancee to take a road trip to Cleveland this summer too. After another poster on this board said that Cleveland was in fact, NOT a dump, I am intrigued. Might as well catch an Indians game as well.

I've had a few really nice experiences at Jacobs Field. There is a good selection of bars/restaurants right near the stadium with a good sized crowd. I sat in the "bleachers" (which aren't really bleachers) twice and it awesome seating...good sightlines, low to the field with easy access to beer, food, bathrooms.

20 years in, and it's not too bad. Sterile, yes; but I think it's still serviceable. Do any of you remember old Tiger stadium? I'll take the new Comiskey over that any day.
Damn, has it been that long? I'm starting to feel old. In my mind, the stadium is still "new" but I guess after 20 years it's not really new any more.

As for being sterile... it's far less so than it was in 1991, that's for sure.

When did that come about and why? And is there even going to be a Joliet anything next year given the team's financial woes?

I worked on it when it was under construction, so it'll always seem "new" to me.

The new Tiger Stadium (Comerica) is awesome. The concourses and statuary are magnificent, and the grub is top notch.

As of last year, the team folded due to not being able to pay the city of Joliet. Some LLC purchased the team and now they're called the Slammers, though they'll be in a different league/division. They'll still play at Silver Cross field, though I'm sure they too will soon fold. The city of Joliet is an absolute mess right now in financial terms. Pretty much all of their city services were contingent on both of the casinos, which have tanked in revenue.

Same thing happened with the Schaumburg Flyers, though the city of Schaumburg blocked the sale to an LLC, so there will be no baseball there.

There's always the Railcats! Woo!

Yeah, it's on the northside.

Comiskey is doing the best it can given that it totally missed the move to retro stadiums. I am sure the architects presented an ultra-modern design as well as a retro design. The Sox people likely bounced the retro design as they did not want to make a Wrigley Field South. Then every single stadium since Comiskey embraced the retro look. I go to as many Sox games as Cubs games, but every time I go to Comiskey I think about how it's a testament to decision makers who missed the ball.

/They don't pay me to call it US Cellular Field

Check out the Indianapolis Indians stadium. You can stay in any of the downtown hotels and walk over, its a very cool location.

Have fun in MN...

Comerica in Detroit, with the giant Tiger statues, is awesome. And I love Jacobs Field (or whatever its called now.) I got to Cleveland for opening season in 1994, and am really sad that I missed the opportunity to drive there in 2007 for the playoffs.

My family has Sox blood, but I've always really liked the Indians, and their park.
