I won't get my bill for a bit, but I called People's to see if they had historical data on my unit.

It turns out that last year, the previous tenant paid only $68 in December, $65 in January, and $66 in Feb. I guess having good windows and well insulated doors pays off. Mind you, this a small (550 sq ft) 1 bdrm.

My Dec natural gas bill in Charlotte, NC was $111.00. This is for a 1500 sq ft house on a slab with the temps not going below 30......AND........I shut the heat OFF during the day when I am not home.

Since the New Year, our temps have not gone above 40 (highly unusual for this area) and the night time temps have been in the teens. Can't even imagine what my bill will be because it has been too cold to shut the heat off during the day.

Time to start insulating, I think!!!!!!
