"Company Piles Up Profits From City’s Parking Meter Deal "

Secret financial info leaked by source inside LAZ Parking.
Details how LAZ Parking won the lottery, while Chicago's future was mortgaged.

Wait until the next few years when the meter fees are scheduled to increase. More $$ to LAZ parking.

Article also mentions 1 billion dollar of the rainy day fund will be used in the next two years to shore up the budget. Where will Chicago find another source of revenue after the rainy day fund is gone?

Wow... rate increases after Jan 1... it's already expensive at 25 cents per 15 minutes. I get away without paying as much as possible, or else I just use my bicycles for transportation to avoid traffic and parking meters.

Daley is such a terrible Mayor and he's to blame for this!

Yeah, the rate increase is going to be awesome for my neighborhood. It's not bad enough that the parking rates quadrupled literally overnight, but they are eventually going to go up to twice their current rate. So in 3 or 4 years the parking rates will have octupled. And the metered spaces in the business district that used to be mostly full of parked cars are now 2/3rds empty. Soon enough they will be 3/3rds empty. That'll be great for business.

Daley usually wins with 70% of the votes, Chicagoans have no one else to blame but themselves.

That's because his opponents are usually fringe lunatics. Nobody likes Daley but no serious candidate has the resources to mount a challenge. So we hold our noses and keep voting for this asshead because the alternatives are even worse.

There was a thread about leaving Chicago a while back... I think I want to leave before the financial meltdown from all of this "privatization" occurs.

Sounds like this was an underhanded deal by Daley. It may come back to bite him in the butt.
