We live in the West Loop and have a 6 week old baby boy. We are looking for a family to share a nanny, starting October 19th.

Not sure where to even start looking! We would like to pay about $200 or $250/week - but we are flexible. We could bring our baby to someone's house, or we could host the nanny and other child/children at our condo. It would be Monday - Friday / 7am - 6pm.

Anyone looking to share a nanny? Or does anyone know where we could find a family that does want to?

The problem with this type of arrangement is finding a nanny who would take the job. Hmmm, if I were a nanny would I want to work for one family at $500/week with one child and two employers, or work for $500/week with two small children and four employers?

This is basically what I just said before my response was deleted.

16 years ago I was paying $8/hr for a parttime sitter. I don't know what the going rate is for nannies right now, but teenagers get $10/hr.

Can you tell me via DM what was wrong with what I wrote?

All I said was working for under $5 an hour to care for a newborn is pretty unreasonable.

You're gonna have a hard time finding a nanny to do a nanny share for such a low amount. Nanny shares in the city starts at $16 per hour ($8/family)...even a nanny with no experience would charge around $14... you're better off finding a home daycare

Contact East Wind Nannies, Chicago branch. They have a web site. Good luck.
