Is it possible to leave Harris Theatre (Randolph Street) Sunday at 5 p.m. and make a 6:30 flight at Midway? What's the fastest way to get from point A to point B?

That's cutting it close ... The plane will begin boarding at 6:10ish (usually ..and if it's here), plus the security Check is pretty busy during that time .. Orange Line CTA is probably OK .. Traffic on either Eisenhower or Stevenson could be problematic .. train is 30-45 minutes, so if you get there at 5:45, and allow 20 minutes for the frisk, scan and sniff you'd be okay ..

I think that you would certainly be cutting it way way too close.

Even if you took the recommended google route, which I believe is also far and away the simplest and probably fastest, there is no way it would be close to 20 minutes, I would say double that is fair. If there is even ONE traffic accident between the theater and the airport the travel time could be much close to 60 minutes at 5 PM, as that is pretty close to the PEAK of Sunday evening departtures, so while the weekday rush hour is not a factor is would be on the expressways, you still have to worry about delays at the airport itself... from: 205 E Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60601-6530 (Harris Theater) to: 5600 S Cicero Ave, Chicago, IL 60638 (Chicago Midway Airport) - Google Maps

There is also no way that the Orange Line would be any less than 30 minutes, probably closer to 50, weekends you don't have crowds (unless there is a rush of folks from a sporting event...) but you also have less trains in general running -- from: 205 E Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60601-6530 (Harris Theater) to: 5600 S Cicero Ave, Chicago, IL 60638 (Chicago Midway Airport) - Google Maps

I think it's possible. Normally I'd say take the orange line, but that will be cutting it very close, especially on Sundays when fewer trains are running. Also since it's Sunday, there will be much less traffic on the expressways, so I would probably cab it just to be on the safe side. There is an expressway (Stevenson) and an ordinary street (Archer Avenue) that are direct routes to the Southwest side, and even if there happens to be an accident on one, the slowest route (Archer) shouldn't take more than 40 minutes (probably around 30).

So yes, I think you can make it in time for your flight.

I fly about 10 times a month, out of Midway, and I would always leave 1.5 hours before a flight (from the Gold Coast), there shouldn't be much traffic southbound on the Stevenson at 5pm. My guess is that you can make it to Midway from the Loop in about 25min....as long as your not checking a bag.
