I want to get to midway by 9am tomorrow, but it looks like it could take an hour and a half to get there by cta. would a taxi driver balk at taking me out that far from lv? how much does anyone think it would cost?

I don't think it takes 1.5 hours on the trains. It depends where you live in Lake View though. If you are not close to a train line then it very well could.

Why would a cab driver not want to take you to Midway from Lake View? It is a big fare (at least $20) and the driver has a good chance to get another fare at Midway. You can always call a cab company and ask. I recommend American United. Their dispatch center is by Belmont and Western.

Since when is "lv" known to all as Lakeview?

Where are you coming from that it's 90 minutes to Midway if you're in Lakeview? I normally grab the Red Line to Roosevelt and then Orange to Midway in an hour fairly easily. It's going to be a little more difficult driving/cabbing since you're trying to go during rush hour.

LP,LV,LS,WP, get with the times of Twitter speak.

I hate the usage personally. I took an educated guess that the OP is speaking of Lake View.

I wasn't sure if he/she meant an "I" or a "1".

I'm definately not hip to how the kool kids talk (or where they live).

Is it really 90 minutes to go from, say Addison on the Red line to Midway on the Orange? I rarely go north of downtown on the Red.

i noticed a few other posters using the abbreviations. Sorry; I thought it's what all the cool kids were doing. anyway, google maps estimated about a 1/2 hr cta trip, and I was unsure about asking a cab driver to take me too far out of the city during rush hour. Of course as pointed out they could probably get another fare at midway, so I guess it shouldn't be a problem.

I use this site to get info on cab fares around Chicago - but it hasn't always been particularly accurate!

http://http://www.taxifarefinder.com/main.php?city=Chicago (http://http//www.taxifarefinder.com/main.php?city=Chicago - broken link)

It suggests $35 (with tip) for Lakeview to Midway and that it's about a half-hour trip. Guessing they don't take traffic into account though!

Surely at that time a cab is going to take just as long?
