Hello, I am living in a Chicago apartment with two roomates, who are on the lease. I am not. I am about to be 4 months behind in rent and am giving the landlord any money I receive while looking for a job. What I`m wondering is if an agreement exists where I could move back in with my parents but have an arrangement, legal document, the landlord and I sign wherein I pay my back rent as soon as possible so that the burden doesn`t fall to those on the lease, but enables me to save enough money to pay it? If you know anything about this, please let me know. Thank you

It sounds like what you're asking for is a separate agreement between you and the landlord to assume some of the burden of the lease. There is nothing stopping the two of you from coming to such an arrangement as long as both parties are willing.
