Hi,

Can some of you suggest a few weekend getaways from Chicago.
I am looking for some adventure stuff (like trekking, wildlife, skiing, go-karting,hiking, scenic drives etc).
Some places to visit with college friends.

Thanks!

I recommend Buckhorn State Park in Wisconsin for decent camping, there are plenty of hiking trails around there also within a short drive (Mill Bluff, Roche a Cri). To really get away from it all and be in the wilderness, you'll need to go further up to the north woods, but that's pretty far for a weekend trip.

Galena probably won't be what you're looking for. It's beautiful and has a scenic drive, plus great hiking but the town is more of a romantic b&b get-away place. Probably not set up well for college friends looking for an adventure.

The dunes or dells would probably be good.
