Obama will win anyway, so the crowd will be happy.
Dont feel sorry for me, really- if this rally is one our greatest life experiences, than life in itself is now meaningless. Obama is fad- like a new pair of jeans that everyone must have. 10 years later they will be worth nothing. I, my friend, dont change with the weather.

I guess everyone knows how nasty, vicious, and hateful the wingnut rabble can be.
There have been a number of reports of Obama effigies. Here is one from September in Oregon.

You want to talk about street renamings, lets start with Balbo. I think theres something a bit wrong wrong with one of the most prominent streets in Chicago being named after a fascist who helped bring Mussolini to power.

Finally decided, am making the trip to my hometown Chicago for the Obama event. Wait listed as well, but hopeful. I am so excited about coming back. Even if I can't get official tix, I will still be at the park for what promises to be an event of epic proportions. I can only guess at how many people will be downtown for it.

Yay, I'm glad the forecast predicts temps in the 50's or 60's, although I will dress warmly while downtown waiting - munching on my Garrett's popcorn, after wiping my mouth from my Taylor street Italian beef, and my Old Fashioned donut shop donut - read - Cruller, from the very urban Roseland neighborhood. I joke here. It'll be a big difference from my neutral suburban Ga. lifestyle!! Chicago here I come!!!

Well hey, Balbo was staunchly against Socialists and Communists so maybe you are right after all in your own way of thinking.

It was named after Balbo (1933) long before WWII and before the "Axis" was created.

Also although at first Neutral in WW1, Italy later joined the allies against Germany. Balbo was a WW1 hero.

To save time for reference I used Wiki to show something really shocking:

"During Balbo's stay in the United States, President Franklin D. Roosevelt invited him to lunch and presented him with the Distinguished Flying Cross. The Sioux even honorarily adopted Balbo as "Chief Flying Eagle".Balbo received a warm welcome in the United States, especially by the large Italian-American populations in Chicago and New York. At a cheering mass in Madison Square Garden he told them, "Be proud you are Italians. Mussolini has ended the era of humiliations."After this, the term "Balbo" entered common usage to describe any large formation of aircraft..."

I couldn't care less about your lack of support for Obama. I'm talking about the completely irrational fear that it is somehow dangerous to go to a rally at Grant Park. It seems very silly to me.

I'm not going anyway.

There may be more than a million people there. At least a several hundred thousand will be there. Win or lose I think there is going to be some trouble-not just in and around Grant Park...That is just my hunch...Hopefully I am wrong....

I would recommend staying at home and keeping your eyes open.

Be prepared.

I wouldn't count on it. But if the election is close and there's any slight inkling of an idea that McCain is stealing the election like Bush did in 2000, things will get ugly. Grant Park will probably be the safest place in the city in that instance.
