I'm relocating to Chicago and will be there for a few months before the family catches up with me. I will move in Feb, and the family will move in late June (after school).

I will be working downtown, pretty close to the main train stations (Union and Ogilvie)

Before we finally buy a house (we just started looking), Im thinking about renting downtown on a temporary basis. It would be just for me.

Any idea as to the cost of a one bedroom apartment in the downtown area? On my next visit I will call some of the leasing offices of the bigger buildings, but in the meantime I was wondering what to expect.

Thx

Check w/ Oakwood or Presidential Towers Corporate Suites .. They are usually higher than full year on a monthly basis, but are furnished, etc .. The other route is check Craigslist for sublets . Chicago Landlord Tenant Ordinance makes subletting pretty common and painless . For a sublet 1 bedroom downtown 1200-1500/Month , maybe less if they're desperate .. Corporate suites metioned above will go for a bit higher . Maybe your employer can assist if they have lots of folks coming in and out of town a lot. Some companies have corporate rates with Oakwood and PT ..
