I don't know - there are prostitutes doing business in the empty basement apt. of my "heart" of Wicker Park building ... does that happen in Lincoln Park?

Two known prostitutes in the area screamed out at me a few blocks east of Damen on North ave. They congregate at the Citgo gas station.

Oh I am sure. It's silly and probably naive to think they're not everywhere. I'm just pissed about that right now... and I do think WP has more grit than LP in the time I've spent in both of them.

WP is definitely grittier than LP there is no doubt about it. You are safe anywhere on Milwaukee between ashland and damen... you are safe on division between ashland and damen. it is gritty in North ave between Ashland & Damen. The prostitutes cruise the triangle in WP. Ashland to north to milwaukee back to ashland. And the area in bucktown from 90 to North ave on Damen is shady. Alot of homeless people around there.

The hookers have been on North Ave in Wicker Park for decades. There are just fewer now and a bit less obvious.

When my wife lived on North Ave. in the 90s, some hookers were turning tricks IN HER CAR while it was parked for a couple of weeks. There used to be a few that loved to hang out near the bridge over the river on North Ave. They used to be all up and down Clybourn also. North and Clybourn was the epicenter of hooker activity in the Near North Side.
The ones east of the River are mostly gone, but a decent number of the ones along North Ave in Wicker Park, Bucktown, Humboldt Park and Austin are all still around.
Believe it or not there are hookers in Gold Coast still too-it takes a trained eye to spot them.
The ones in Wicker and Bucktown are not as indentifiable as they once were.
The hooks like Western too south of North Ave.
I could tell you many of the places the hookers used to be in the city (and still are), not because I used them, but because I have been driving around much of the city very frequently for 17 years.
