LOL, well the answer changes a little bit based on the questioner's specific criteria... but the basic premise always stays the same: outer Northwest neighborhoods along the Blue Line.

I think it might be time to extend the Blue Line out to Woodfield. If these boards are any indication, it would get quite a bit of use.

FYI---I was mistaken on it being in the Lincoln Park area---Lincoln Park is further north than I thought it was---she is at ~1000 & Division. My mistake, guys.

I'm not sure what "~1000 & Division" means. Do you mean the 1000 block of West Division Street? If so, my recommendation stands: somewhere near a Blue Line station, ideally close to the Jefferson Park or Harlem stop. That gets you past most of the stop-and-go on the expressway and gets her close to work. She can get off at the Division Street stop and either hop a Division bus east or hoof it if the weather's nice -- it's about a 15 minute walk from the Division stop the 1000 block.

I know the area doesn't have the whores that it once did, but not sure I would recommend walking. Of course that assumes we are talking about 1000 W. Division, by all those warehouses and stuff, it is not so much that there is going to be gang war fare, but it there is heavy truck traffic.

I was wondering the same. We are in a very similar situation (wife works @ Schaumburg, I work @ Loop).

... We ended up buying a 3br/1.5ba 1600 sq ft single family home in Roselle for about $200k

LOL, that's right. Actually we are 5 minutes away from the Schaumburg train station/Elgin O'Hare expressway, so is not that bad.
