Was at Bavette’s last night and it’s quite swank as well. And the martinis are just killer.

Love a well-made martini! I desperately miss living in Andersonville, within walking distance of Marty's Martini Bar.

I had an amazing dinner at Alinea many years ago. Had a few at Charlie Trotter's too, RIP. I was sad when MK closed, it was consistently very good - never had a bad meal there.

The Tortoise Club in River North. Beautiful old time supper club, good food, drinks, great atmosphere and entertainment!

Girl and the Goat is very popular and cutting edge, and Alinea is obviously a destination, but neither of these is what I would consider “old money” based on the description. Four Seasons may fit the bill, but that’s a national chain, and not uniquely Chicago.

That's a good one. I haven't been there in years.

I know its a chain, so some will scoff, but Capital Grille has an old money kind of feel inside and the food is pretty top notch.

I think I mentioned it upthread but bears repeating: After having a couple of drinks at their bar last Friday, I am hoping to treat my lady to a nice dinner at Bavette's soon. It will be $$ (but she's worth it).
