I don't know, i'm not very picky about hotels...

So just booked to stay here. I'm assuming the "red line" cannot be that different than the Metro here (I hope). I will do some more research on it. Any confirmation if this place is in a safe area? I guess it doesn't matter now lol, but knowing it is would make me feel better.

the immediate area is kind of boring, really. there's a White Castle, a car wash and a furniture store around there, and some apartment buildings.

I didn't feel worried staying there, and i'm a short little white girl who everyone thinks is WAY younger than I am. But if you do feel uncomfortable there's always cabs driving around in Chicago that are easy to hail.

The Red Line is an elevated railroad/subway and it runs 24 hours. If you don't want to walk too much, you can catch the 84 Peterson bus to get to the red line stop on Bryn Mawr, but that bus is so annoyingly never on time, I actually wound up walking when I stayed there.
