One thing that really gets on my nerves while on my daily commute are the subway performers. Many of them, simply put-Don't have any talent. I do understand freedom of expression as it relates to Artistic talents but the first requirement is having TALENT.

It's a pain to have to stand in the subway station underground and listen to someone that does not have the talent to hold a bad note, let alone a good note. I wish Daley would put a stop to these American Idol wannbe/rejects...........and bring back the hotdog carts!!!

Devils advocate here. I kind of like them, esp. the ones with talent, but I find the ones without any to be quite amusing as well.

To me it speaks to the vibrancy of the city... I don't know why, I guess I just always attributed that to a city thing, since it rarely happens elsewhere.

I am with you 100%, but the non-talented "performers" out number the the talented performers.

You should check this piece in the Washington Post. They had a world famous violinist (Joshua Bell) set up shop in the D.C. subway to see how people would react. Pretty interesting. Almost all completely ignored him.

If Bob Dylan got a record deal with his voice, there just might be TONS of undiscovered "talent" in Chicago's subway performers!

I like it. It can be a bit annoying at times, but that's why God invented iPods.

It does add a sense of vibrancy. I wouldn't mind seeing more street performers.

They already technically are banned unless they have a license. I think there are more now again that do not. There used to be tons of them until they made the law.For a long time the city was writing tickets to those without a license so the numbers risking a ticket drew down to near zero. Now they are coming back without a license. Its the economy.

Hey, I just thought of a sweet idea for a reality show!

I shall call it "CSI".

Chicago Subway-performer Idol!

The phone lines are now open, cast your votes, people!

Im not a daily commuter by ways of the L but in the summertime I frequently run into the performers and I enjoy them. Some are bad, some are great but I think it helps commuters to be a little more comfortable while traveling
