I am White, but felt super out of place myself since they were really Southern. But they were not only using the N word but also spewing straight up racism about blacks (there were no blacks there either; it was completely white with no diversity, which also made it awkward). My buddy was from New York and we both had a diverse group of friends, and he and I were both just really uncomfortable and left. I liked Atlanta as a city, but that always left a bad taste in my mouth.

Maybe in 2021 things would be different, but probably not lol.

No, it wasn’t the N word but it was related.

I’ve spent some time in Mississippi and the Rural Midwest and I’ve never heard such trashy language in my life. Thankfully no one of color was in earshot.

Nick Johnson, an excellent YouTuber who does videos about American locations, recently did one on the most racist states according to its peoples’ Google searches. I’m pretty sure NY was top 10.
