Don Cuccino, good afternoon.

I will not deny your statement.

Likewise, I will not deny an area's residents need/want of having law, order, and personal safety from WHOMEVER or WHATEVER brings this.

I, personally, feel safe. My home in Greenfield, Wi is in a safe area. Also, I feel safe wherever I go due to my training.

But not everyone shares those feelings. And I have the sense of empathy to imagine what they are going through. And I can appreciate their desire and right to let kids walk to a park/ walk to the corner store to get groceries/ take a walk down the street on a warm night.

NO GOOD CITIZEN should be robbed of that. There are only so many law enforcement agents. And BLESS THOSE that are out there, who deserve all of our respect and support.

Have a good day!

This city is full of lawlessness!

They committed these acts "after being released earlier in the day without being charged......." That's all you need to know. Their actions are tolerated by leadership.

I love this city, but for the first time in my 10 years here, the thought of leaving has crossed my mind. If this type of lawlessness persists without punishment, it will only get worse. And city leadership that allows this and refuses to prosecute them is just as bad.

Cities like Boston and many others offer nice city-life without having to deal with all of this and sky-high crime numbers every weekend.

By definition, vigilantes may provide some degree of order, but they will never provide law - they are simply a more popular form of lawlessness.

It's everywhere. I saw a video today, recent NYC attack at an atm. One guy is at the atm getting cash, some dude shows up, pulls a hatchet out of a bag, plows it into the back of the leg of the guy at the atm, then starts swinging at his head.

I got guns, but I wouldn't conceal carry in this state and in this day. I'll take my chances bare handed and/or with my knife rather than shoot some deserving perp and then get my life destroyed by the court system, no thanks.

There are crazy people everywhere, but NYC is not dealing with packs of teens running around their downtown causing trouble, then being released with no charges only to cause more trouble and violence. This is happening in downtown Chicago. Downtown as recently as a year and a half ago, was the crown jewel and didn’t have this element infiltrating it. It no longer feels the same now with these packs of teens causing trouble. The city’s reputation was already bad nationally, but downtown was its saving grace. If the mayor and state’s attorney continue to let this type of crime happen and go unpunished, downtown will be tainted too, and people will move out in droves. A once great city is slowly collapsing….

Going soft on criminals is directly tied to Kim Foxx, and many Aldermen and families are fed up:

Nah, from what I hear, now they're getting the 'wilding' thing in NY as well. Largely same reasons too, soft on crime, dropping charges, releasing these "youths", etc. City people and their voting habits. My dad had a saying: "Keep an open mind, but not to the point that your brains falls out."

I wonder who's decision it was to release the teens with no charges and why (Lack of evidence?)
I know the knee jerk reaction is to blame Lightfoot and Foxx (often with good reason) but who actually made the decision to let these kids go and why?

Mayor doesn't have the jurisdiction or authority regarding releasing prisoners. That falls under the courts/prisons. States Attorney doesn't either, their job is to prosecute. Once someone is sentenced its out of their hands. That's like blaming cops for criminals getting out early
