I don't think so. I know young white women who live there and have never had any issues.

Wicker Park has changed and has a lot of cool restaurants. Not just Damen/North/Milwaukee intersection, but south toward Division Street. i recommend that.

If you want some trace of ethnic flare, you can check on Grand Avenue between Halsted and Ashland for some Italian. And I've mentioned before, I love the strip of Lincoln Square along Lincoln Avenue between Wilson and Lawrence for German (and many other flavors there these days, all good stuff!)

I see there is a Pizano's on Division. Nice. Looks like we may have found a winner.
Arcade bar
Mexican street food (wife's Mexican)
Coffee
Craft Beer
Some divey regular bar types
short distance to Polish restaraunt
short distance to Diversy bowling alley. Love that place

Thanks. I really like Lincoln Square. I used to work in the area in the 90s. Way different back then but still cool. When I made the original post I had a few places in mind. Lincoln Square was one of them along with Logan Square, Wicker Park, Roscoe Village and Pilsen. I plan to work my way through this list and more over our next visits. Will be fun for sure.

hendersj31, I may be a Milwaukee resident, but I am down to Chicago every weekend. I wish I could have seen Lincoln Square back in the '90's. But I still enjoy going there, and will take my children from time to time as well, as it is a very family-friendly area on the strip. On Saturday, I started the day in Chinatown ( I recommend Moon Palace restaurant). I also had dinner at Pizano's (but it was the one on Madison Street, and if you ever go, ask for the waiter "Chach", and tell him Jay from Milwaukee says HI. That guy is a riot!). I finished the night way northwest in the Edison Park neighborhood, at Don Juan's, on Northwest Highway... So I would recommend any of these spots to people in the city (be they south of the loop, downtown, or far northwest!... Master Jay from Milwaukee

Anybody want to try to sell me on Logan Square over Wicker Park? What intersections would be best to target for apartments?

Thanks

Taylor Street and Greek Town are very nice too.. Me and friends went up to an Italian Restaurant, on the 2nd floor, it was Rosebud on Taylor St. It was evening, and dark, so pretty to look down to the street and see the sights. If you want a romantic scene, I recommend Rosebud on Taylor (and no I don't work for them

for that matter, Restaurant Row in that area has been built up. It is on Randolph, near the expressway.. that has been built up.

for a really fun cool place, I recommend Carnivale, in River North. its amazing. When we went for a lunch outing from my job, they had a woman do this beautiful dance, using the scarves that hang from the ceiling and she wraps herself in it and does tricks in the air. Very cool! check it out
