Some of these places are already close to $500 a night. I'm also checking in with the alumni association with my university to see if I can stay with an alum, and I may have a friend lined up, but I cannot justify paying those prices after paying so much for the race and then paying for travel to get up there. $150/night is definitely reasonable. I think Air BnB is a good option. My question to you is what is an appropriate neighborhood for me to be looking in in the map view. Chances are I will be traveling without my husband, so I want to be safe since I will be carting myself around and have to partner for the day of.

Here's the link for the Doubletree: DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago O'Hare Hotels in Rosemont

I stayed there a few years ago when I ran a half marathon and it was nice. The blue line is about a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. It'll get you close to Grant Park but it's a long ride. Good luck!

Most airbnb places are in safe neighborhoods. Read the reviews, if you have any specific options, ask here. Since you have to be up early for the race, I'd recommend looking for a place closer on airbnb, rather than a 40 minute train ride from Rosemont.
