I'm not sure if you're into that at all, but the sunset at Hancock tower is something amazing. It easily beats the glass floor in the Sears Tower for me (where you get to spend maybe a minute, but you can easily spend an hour at Hancock).

So, if you could time it properly, you'd have a nice story/photos to tell your friends when they finally arrive in the evening.

Oh, and as for live music, look into dueling pianos. It's quite a unique Chicago experience. I'd strongly recommend Howl At The Moon : Nightlife, Entertainment | Howl at the Moon

Talking about fasting and not mentioning the Brazilian Steakhouse Fogo De Chao on 661 North LaSalle st ? The lunch is about $35, but it's all you can eat (mostly steak), and you will not have to eat till next day, for sure, as you will be recovering from the unavoidable food coma

Though, this is something they should do as a group (hopefully none of them is vegetarian!), but he could do that for the lunch, then slowly try to walk to Hancock tower (burning the extra calories).

He mentioned he liked games. Fogo De Chao should be walkable distance from the Dave&Buster's arcade, I believe. It's more expensive than ChuckECheese's, but also more clean, has newest games, so it might be a good way to recover from the food coma

Totally agreed - much better views and you can have a drink (overpriced). Whatever you do though, when getting the off the elevators go to the right no matter what.

Howl at the Moon exists all over the place - not just Chicago. It can be fun, but the people who go there can be annoying.
