Thats fine. I just did not want the OP to get the impression that the Blue Line to Red Line route was best in most scenarios.

Done this trip numerous times, and agree that Blue Link to Irving Park/Belmont, then a bus are your best options. Some other options to think about
> Blue line to Belmont/Irving Park, and taking a cab from there. Pricier, but you save some time
> Airport express van. Pretty good if you're traveling alone, but if you're 2 or more, its better to split the cab fare.

Depends a lot on the time of day. Traffic verily crawls, and sometimes doesn't even do that, along Belmont during rush hour or weekend party hours. During those times, it may very well be faster to go all the way downtown and transfer.
