I remember when the Wall Street Journal did a writeup on "dibs" a few years back. I was highly amused to see it on our househunting expedition this week, especially in Albany Park, where there's no shortage of parking spaces.

It is a good way to get rid of appliances and junk furniture you don't want anymore. Just sit it out there and leave it and the city will eventually move it. Beats the hell outta dumping in on Lower Wacker Drive or in Evanston!
