I was hoping someone who is more familiar with the city could help a gal out. Some friends and I are looking for a good spot for our New year's but we're having a hard time finding a place that meet all of our specifications.

We're looking for something with an open bar, large dance floor, bar/more laid back area, and a nice racial mix. We aren't looking for an all white crowd. Strange request?

Either way, any help will be nice!

Thanks

We've got you covered: https://www.city-data.com/forum/chica...e-chicago.html

General rule for things like this is, the closer you are to The Loop, the more racially mixed the atmosphere will be. Since The Loop sits pretty much right in between the white and black sections of town, the clubs neareest there are where it gets mixed up the most.

All right, let me see if I can help you with the specifics:

Those are just a few samples I got from going to the Metromix website referenced in the other "New Years Eve" thread and entering "New Years" into the search field. On the left-hand side of the page, you can select "bars and clubs" to narrow the search field. I picked places that I feel would have a decent racial mix based on their locations (I left out the city's primary German social club and places located in the mid-North side, for instance), but since I'm not really into the clubbing scene, I don't know how "mixed" they will actually be. The one exception is The Funky Buddha, which consistently draws a pretty mixed crowd.
