Hello Everyone!

I was recently offered a job in Mokena, Illinois with an annual salary of $60k. I don't know much about the Chicago area, and was looking for advice on what areas I should look at for apartments/studios.

A little background on me:

I am a 21 year old guy, and would like to live near other young professionals. I am also looking to own/lease a car to get back and forth from work.

I would like some sort of nightlife, as I'd like to be able to go out on the weekends and have fun. I don't want to be stuck inside with nothing to do.

Safety is also important to me, I don't want to end up in a sketchy area.

Feel free to provide recommendations. Thanks!

Mokena is pretty far away from the "young professional" areas of Chicago. I mean, over 30 miles away from the very closest young professional area, and even then it's not that big for that (Hyde Park). Otherwise, the next closest is probably a few miles more than that. Luckily from the south side, the free ways are not that bad, but that's 60-65 miles a day round trip.

Look into where your office is in Mokena. If you're lucky, your office will be right near a Metra (commuter rail) station. Otherwise I'd suggest looking in the suburbs to be honest with you.

If you are in Finance, you could "Job Hop" to downtown once you get a year of experience in. Then you will be living the dream
