There are reasons we no longer have orphanages in the West for the most part, and while the primary reason may be that we have fewer orphaned kids these days it's also partly due to the fact that kids don't turn out well in them.

Keeping them in these hostile environments can't be much better. At least they would have a chance in orphanages, provided it had the right leadership and methodologies. The status quo of hoping for the best, that a 3-year-old won't be affected/traumatized by living in these loud, angry, violent, ignorant warzones, just isn't working. Endlessly throwing money at their mothers isn't doing it either. Gotta look at all options.

Good idea. I'm sure everyone on the right will gladly accept the massive tax increases that it would take to run these orphanages at a level that would provide kids with the type of care that might keep them out of gangs, right?

Between the costs of single mom welfare programs, jails, prisons, economic devastation to communities, and disinvestments. how can you imply these orphanages would be more costly overall. It seems we are blowing billions for nothing as it is; reallocation of funds seems like a no-brainer.
