I'm traveling to 77th and Aberdeen for a house party at a friends house. I live near Trinity Hospital. I'm trying to figure out the logistics of getting there I'd take the bus but I heard that 79th bus can be sketchy at night. Taking a cab may be expensive. What should I do?

I've never been on the 79th bus but you'll have to take some bus route if you can't drive yourself, find a ride from someone else, or a cab..

It's $20-$25 cab fare, each way. Personally, taking a bus an hour each way for a house party seems not so worth it, but I guess it depends on how bad you want to go. I'd spring for the cab fare if I really wanted to go, but $50 isn't a big deal to me and your situation may be different.

I hear you I'd probably be able to grab a ride home from someone but a ride there doubt that. Plus it's a bday party for a friend so I'd definitely want to go.

You're going to have a hell of a time getting a cab at 77th and Aberdeen. It's hard enough to get cabbies to drive through rough areas (i.e. Garfield to Midway Airport) let alone convince one to pick up a fare there. There will be approximately none driving around, so you'll have to try your luck with calling different companies.

Default So you spend more time doing that from...

...Englewood or Auburn / Gresham?

V -- I know I razz you over some stuff but you gotta admit that somebody that is looking for advice on the interwebs is probably not going be some hard core type that can scare off bad guys with a shoulder roll.

Arrange for a ride from a private source or a firm that will guarantee the fee and arrival time.

From Trinity Hospital (on 93rd) you'd need to take the bus along 95th to the Red Line, then take that to 79th and then take another bus west. That is an hour. A car makes it in 15 minutes.

Uber doesn't work well when you actually really need them. Like when you're in an area without many taxis.
