Put a sign on it that says "Works great! Free to good home!"

Then after someone loads it on to their truck, you point and laugh at them.

Laugh when you see who comes to pick it up and loads it into the trunk of a toyota tercel. (I've seen crazier things happen)

There's a city recycling center that takes electronics at Division and North Branch (a few blocks east of the Kennedy).

I put everything out in the alley, feel guilty that I just did that, and then am relieved when everything gets taken within hours.

I had a gallon of red wine I really didn't want on Saturday....it lasted about 30 minutes out by the dumpster.

Last time I moved I threw ton of usable, but not 'pretty' furniture in the alley. Some stuff was gone by the time I brought out the next item.

Best Buy will take old electronics, too. With a 55" projection TV I think the issue is more about transporting it than having a place to take it, though.

I have a neighbor who works as a delivery driver and he's big and hefty... He can haul my arcade video games by himself, like when my mom got him the put my Stargate Defender machine in the garage [against my will]. He has a pickup truck and one day we'll call him and I'll help him to deliver it to the recycling center on Division.

Thank you all for your tips.

Default Out with the old, in with the new Sanyo

The big box stores accept and properly recycle old electronics. It's nice because there are parts of your poisonous TV that can be reused. Specifically, I know that Best Buy will take it because I've taken on there. Sears will take one. Wal-Mart can be shamed into taking one. Need to check out the 52" Smart Sanyo with improved sound. $25O more than the competition, but about a kabillion times better.

*I do not own a Sanyo, I have no stock in Sanyo, I have no friends at Sanyo, I'm broke and have a Vizio
