The State of Illinois Building - Thompson Center. As bad as it can get.

OOHHHH GOOD ONE! That is VERY VERY UGLY! I just don't really consider it a skyscraper though. I think that is the reason why I didn't list it. It is one of the ugliest pieces of architecture in the western hemisphere.

Really? I actually like it. I think it's interesting looking from the east and south, and inside I think it looks pretty cool. Beautiful no. But I think it's pretty distinct and not a negative way.

When I see CNA I think of a big brick sitting on its end. Maybe the architects envisioned a big brick...

No one is hating on red, they just don't like how it is placed in the skyline cause it sticks out like a sore thumb. Also there is a big difference between a BRICK building that is red that is 1-10 stories when compared to a steel skyscraper that is bright red. IMO it's all about the scale and surroundings.

Outside of the loop, but the majority of the residential highrises built along Lakeshore and in Gold Coast are HIDEOUS. Wost tragedy is that they are on prime real estate and gorgeous mansions were destroyed to build them.

I agree many are not pretty, they remind me of most residential high rises in NYC.
