I wouldn't really know. My mom went to Taft (graduated in 74) and left Chicago in 90.
I only live in the burbs, so I wouldn't know much about CPS

King College Prep is an selective enrollment school. King is one of the Chicago Public School System's eight selective enrollment schools, which means that its approximately 900 students must apply for acceptance, based on academic achievement and test scores.~Wikipedia

Don't know about right now but I've always heard
Crane, Simeon, Mt. Carmel, Whitney Young...

And for the suburbs it was always...
Proviso East, Thornwood, Richards (mostly B/C of Dwyane Wade) and Homewood-Flossmoor

Do you read the Sports section of the Tribune, Daily Herald or Sun Times? Doesn't provide much historical info, but they do cover the current top teams.

Proviso East is where guys like Jim Brewer, Dee Brown, Shannon Brown, Michael Finley, Doc Rivers, Steven Hunter, etc went.

Kevin Garnett played a year at Farragut..etc
How do these successful basketball players come from the same high school? Coincidence? Do the parents move to that HS's district because they want their kid to be coached by someone specific at that school?
