Easy for you to say. I would never be able to park by my own house because people from out of the area would use the spots so they can save Metra money and drive in, park by the L stop, and take that.

And if you lived near Wrigley during games you'd never be able to park near yr own place.

Screw that. I love permit parking. I should get first dibs on my own damn street.

Most areas with permit parking have more than adequate public transportation nearby. If parking for visitors to the neighborhood is so difficult then they certainly needn't drive their car.

This is dumb for a 1000 reasons. Why should I have to fight for parking spaces on my street with people that want to not pay for parking and go to restaurants or jump on the L? Its already hard to find parking on permit streets, it would be impossible in most places if there were no permits

I say we get rid of all parking restrictions, especially in front of fire hydrants.

And sidewalks, parkways and lawns as well. That would open up loads of spaces!

Permit Parking is for a reason, so that the people who live there might actually be able to park in their own neighborhood.

Permit parking is definitely good in attracting new residents too. Some new people moving to Chicago might think twice about living in the city if they know it's going to be next to impossible to park their cars on the street.
