anyway, did the architecture cruise this morning (took video) and just got back from Millennium Park. awesome place. i'm kind of surprised there was so many people out on a weekday but they seem to be mostly tourists like me. i know the hotel has been hopping with new arrivals.
and man is that Trump building massive or what? it's not only huge but kind of intimidating too. got a great view of it - i'm directly across the river from it. yes, i actually got a room with a river view which i wasn't expecting.
tomorrow probably the north side bus tour and either Prometheus at the iMax or Hancock observatory.
Yeah, pretty much everyone there is going to be a tourist with a few exceptions. We take that stuff for granted because we've already seen it a lot. Trump is a MASSIVE building. It's very nice inside too, step inside..There's a bar on the 2nd floor and a Lounge on the 16th. If you go out in River North (north of the River..go to State Street Bridge and walk north on it) tonight after say 6pm, most people out are locals, mixed with tourists of course, but yeah. Glad you got a room with a nice view.

I do recommend going to the Hancock observatory...that gives you a chance to walk along Michigan Avenue and see some cool stuff. Another cool area downtown is Gold Coast with all the mansions (i.e. the original Playboy mansion) north of Division, south of North Avenue (i.e. go to the State & Division intersection and walk north on State). You will see some awesome late 19th and early 20th century architecture on some very, very large and extremely nice row houses and mansions right downtown basically. There's a few mansions closer too...there's two on the corner of Erie & Wabash..owned by the same guy. I would recommend going north into River North and Gold Coast (go to where Bellevue, State, and Rush meet..good area). If you like cars, there's also a Lamborghini, Ferrari, etc dealership on Pearson and Rush.
