My boyfriend and I are currently living together in Lincoln Park, but it's way too expensive and when our lease is up in a few months we're planning on moving somewhere else.

I go to school in the loop so I don't want to live too far either North or South, and my boyfriend works in Archer Heights a couple days a week so he'd like to move further South.

As far as money goes, we'd just like it to be less expensive than Lincoln Park, which is ridiculous.

If anyone could provide any input I'd really appreciate it.

I have friends who live in Garfield Ridge, it seems nice enough to me. I like McKinley Park too but I can't vouch for how safe it is. I have friends who live there too though and they like it.

Bridgeport east of Halsted is OK though there have been a couple of incidents in the past few months including a couple of armed robberies of stores and a woman murdered in her alley. Some of my pals who live there love it and others are getting a little disgusted. Hard to say.

Taylor Street/Little Italy, university village, Pilsen, Bridgeport, Mckinley Park, etc. If you're looking for something of comparable niceness and safety with Lincoln Park, the first two.

East Hyde Park is like Lincoln Park but less expensive and it has parking.

Just to be a pain in the ass but those are West Side neighborhoods. But might be quite suitable for the OP.

Coming from Lincoln Park and not looking for total culture shock it's not as if there's an abundance of hoods of that caliber south of 290.

Hyde Park and Bridgeport are probably the safest choices. Could also move to another north neighborhood or a west one. Maybe Uptown/Edgewater or Irving Park/Logan Square. Plenty of cheaper hoods all around really, as Lincoln Square/Ravenswood is quite sought after by rich(er) families making it pricey.

Pretty much, this. When I moved to Albany Park from Bridgeport, it was like the promised land compared to Bridgeport in terms of shopping, transit, etc.

Hyde Park is really the only south-side neighborhood I'd consider at this point (for the amenities I'd need.)

Bridgeport is fine and well, but you need to walk over to the 35th st. red line stop to get to the south loop/loop for dining/shopping/entertainment.

I'm really not seeing why the OP should skip over places like West Town or Noble Square to live all the way out in Evergreen Park.
