Anyway, become familiar with getting a state license as a paramedic. I know its not the fire side of the profession, but all depts would agree that they need more medics. In the city and burbs, medic calls are a good majority of what the calls are related to. Paramedic school is a year long and requires you to get a couple of anatomy classes under your belt and be licensed as an Illinois EMT B first. Also a lot of paramedic programs want you to have working hours completed on an ambulance such as a private company like superior, vandenburg, medex and trace.
