I just got back from a 2 week trip to NYC last sunday and let me say NYC has nothing on the Chi. I stayed with a couple of friends (who are originally from here) and ever since they moved there they are constantly talking down about Chicago and how much more NYC has to offer. NYC was dirty, congested, the food was mediocre, and the attitudes sucked. It just made me more proud to be from here. I made a post in the NYC thread about the trip and they just got mad and closed my post (i think i got there ego a little bit lol) anyway with the way Chicago has been expanding on all fronts I believe people will start to realize that NYC is not what its cracked up to be and Chicago has way more to offer especially with quality life. I can see the Chi surpassing NYC in the next 10-20 years if we stay on the path we are now.

Eh, I think it's fine to like Chicago better than NYC but I don't there is a need to bash. I can agree that NYC is dirty and congested. As for food. I think you are way off. Chicago is not far behind NYC when it comes to food, but NYC I think is stronger in that category.

I think they just offer two very different lifestyles. NYC is a global megapower city on par with London and Tokyo. While Chicago is also a global international city however it is also at the same time very domestic, ie cities like Montreal, Santiago, Berlin, etc.

New York is wonderful. I've lived in both cities and love them each. NYC has 10's of thousands of restaurants and I wish you had experienced some of the good food available. Also, NYC has many clean neighborhoods. It's just hard to check everything out on a single visit.

Yeah, saw the trolling you did on the NYC forum with the locked thread. Congratulations.

Even if Chicago were a global megapower that still wouldn't make ME a global mega-power.

A schnook is a schnook no matter where he lives.

If I could afford it, if an employer would pay me a NYC living wage to work there, I would like to live in NYC for a few years. I've spent a lot of time there over the years and I appreciate how different it is from Chicago. I prefer Chicago, but I don't have anything bad to say about NYC.

Professionals I've known in the restaurant industry, who've worked and lived in both cities, say the opposite.

NYC has much that Chi will never have - especially in the areas of art and culture.

We have pride on our city, but we dont find the need to to bash other cities. If you couldnt find good food in NYC your doing something wrong. Its called being a realist. Chicago is great for what it is, as is NYC
