I will be moving to Chicago, and need to find a place to live. I guess you could say I'm looking to rent something on the higher-end, with views, balcony, and amenities. I will be working at 100 North Riverside Plaza.

I've looked at a few sites, but have not found much, or else no pics.

Any ideas for a newbie?

Thanks,

Saint Jack

I lived at 1 W Superior a few years ago (also called Superior Place Apartments). It is on Superior and State, has a blockbuster in the bottom and you don't even have to go outside to go to whole foods. W/D in unit, I had a balcony facing the sears tower, pool, gym, room you can rent for parties, doorman..... expensive parking (around 225). Just get an apartment with a south facing view

Apartment Ratings - Apartments for Rent with Ratings and Reviews from Actual Renters seems to have some accurate reviews by current and former tenants of apartments from every end of the spectrum (in terms of pricing & amenities) in Chicago and also in other cities as well. I'd definitely doublecheck properties on that website.

here's a decent building in my 'hood. 2 years ago, 1-bed w/den was somewhere around $2300/mo plus parking...not sure what it is now.

The Bernardin - Situated at the southeast corner of Chicago Avenue and Wabash Avenue within Chicago's Gold Coast area (http://www.thebernardin.com/neighborhood/ - broken link)

Default Still On The Prowl For Luxury Apartment!

Hey thanks to all of you, those have been some great suggestions-Guess I'm looking for something pretty new, and modern, so if you can, keep the great insights rolling, I'd like to go for my first visit with a few solid ideas in my head so the realtor doesn't screw with me too much!

On a different topic, good groceries, butchers, specialised food stores in downtown area?

Cheers,

Saint Jack
