Right now I'm living in Roscoe Village, a great, quiet, safe neighborhood that o simply cannot afford any more. I'm paying 1000 for a two bedroom but I really need something closer to 600 or 700. Something on the brown or red line would be nice or even a 24 hour bus.

I'm a 23 year old female and while I'm not exactly afraid of being out alone at night I would like to live somewhere where I'm pretty sure I don't have to be.

Any suggestions?? Thank you!

Wait...so you want a 2 BR for $600-$700? Or a 1BR? If you want a 2BR, your only choices are places you REALLY don't want to be.

Look at avondale, edgewater, uptown, etc and look into the preferred blocks in each, you can find 1bdrms on safe blocks I your price range but it will be tough, consider a studio.

As stated before, you won't find a two bedroom for that price in the safe place. Your best bet is a tad bit west which would be Avondale. It does get sketchy though, so beware.

That's a studio price in most of the "nicer" neighborhoods. I actually think it will be tough to find a 1 BR for that.

Maybe somewhere in the bungalow belt/far northwest side. You could find a nice 1 BR in a safe neighborhood for that. My friend pays that for a good 1 BR in Jefferson Park. It's practically out of Chicago but very safe...

For $1000? Hardly. I can find a one bedroom in popular places like Lake View and Wicker Park easily for under $1000.
