Sounds like Iraq here in Hyde Park. There were all these press reports last week about how CPD would crack down on illegal fireworks. Yeah, right.

/At least it's not gunshots

Lol they never stop people for fireworks. When I played traveling baseball as a kid, we would go play teams in Brighton Park, West Lawn, and other Hispanic neighborhoods and they'd be popping M80s well into late July and August. I love it.

I was about to call the cops about the friggin noise... I didn't mind up until 11:30 when I was trying to go to sleep so I could go to work without being groggy... and some of them sounded like 12 gauge shotguns.

Its one day of the year, suck it up (I'm going on 4 hours of sleep.) There is nothing better than celebrating your country than by blowing up a small part of it.

Don't get me wrong. I like the sounds and I didn't call 911. It's just that they make this big deal about how it won't be tolerated and then nobody gets busted. Why even have the press conference.

You probably would too if you had to work the next day and 15 year olds were shooting bottle rockets into the yard at 2am.

Loud fireworks make me edgy and give me flashbacks of things I try to forget about.
