Yeah, and some of the disappearing acts are people I wish would have stuck around after we gave them guidance in moving here, such as TeacherMan and amy_cate.

There are also a couple people I had been in conversations with off the board that just vanished also. Some I have gone out of my way to help and then they just stopped coming on here or conversing. I wont name names, but it is pretty disappointing. Its very strange. It makes me very unwilling to do certain things now.

It is not like I come on here looking for friends, but you never know where you will find new ones. People have lives and sometimes things happen.Citi-Data will be the last thing on their minds if their life goes through a big change. But it seems like many people pop in here ask a question and never come back while many of us on here spend time trying to help them. Frustrating.

I think there are three types of people that come on this board:

1. the ones who need advice and found us on google
2. the ones who need advice, and like the forum/chatting atmosphere (they are often people who are stay-at-homers, work in offices and don't do much work, or work and sleep at odd hours and have time to kill)
3. the ones who are on here because they like the forum/chatting atmosphere

It's usually the 2s and 3s who stick around long term; the 1s find the info they need and move on with their lives

Default Logan Square

I am a mix of type 2 and type 3.

But getting back to topic, I did laundry on Monday night (10PM) at the laundromat at North and Humboldt/Sacramento in Humboldt Park. I have been doing my laundry there for the past 2 years (never did laundry before that in a laundromat) and I have seen a lot of interesting changes. First, I notice that more and more yuppies/artists doing laundry.

I actually like doing laundry as it gives me an opportunity to interract with people in the neighborhood.

While I was waiting on my wash items, I walked to Logan Square to the ATM, first walking up north avenue and then California. As you go north that area really changes for the better, especially around Armitage.

Several nice bars and restaurants have recently opened and I did not encounter hardly any riff raff during my 1 mile each way walk.

I am beginning to think I really should have bought that place at 2713 W Medill for $390M this February. I haven't seen any similar deals come across since as that area appears to really be in demand, but we will see how bad this housing decline gets. It doesn't appear to be getting any better anytime soon.

And I still owe you a beer (or more)!!! Sorry for my delinquency and absence...I struggled to "keep my head above water" this first year of CPS.

I just did a thread search for my name and found out that you all missed me... I am so flattered!

Anyway, I hope to become a valuable resource as a new member of the city...

THANK YOU ALL for your support and guidance!
Cheers,
-TM

Welcome back TeacherDude I take it then that your first year in the CPS system was a bit of a challenge? How has your first year in Chicago been overall?
