I'm 21 & my brother and I were thinking about moving to Chicago next year, I will probably be working a small full-time job & doing school online and my brother would be college full time & maybe a part-time job on the side..What would be a nice quiet safe neighborhood to live, Like a suburb feeling but not far from the city, we are from high crime areas in Columbus Oh & Phoenix Az so we do not want to be back in a bad place with gangs & high crime, we are not teenagers anymore & do not act like baboons. So i would like to know some upright great low crime places in Chicago to live? Northwest west east whatever does not matter as long as its in the description.. Please answers with experiences only, thank you.

^It's far more important to find a job first before deciding where to live. Chicagoland is huge and commutes can be killer.

Its a city. Even if you live in a "nice" neighborhood the neighborhood next to you may be violent. And that could be no further than a 100yrds. Get use to violence in the city.

Personally I don't think the chance of being a victim of a random violent crime is all that great. Your far more likely to get hit by a car. And on that note I was mugged (no weapon) in Oak Park, which is considered to be a very nice suburb. Of course its right next to Chicago's Austin neighborhood which has one of the cities higher crime rates.

You should come up with some better criteria. Throw a dart anywhere outside of the city and west of I-57. People are going to recommend Oak Park and Evanston, and I do like those suburbs, but crime is not non-existant. You might even find what you're looking for in the far Northwest or SW parts of the city.
