Chi-Folks,

Need some recommendations. Spending the weekend in Chicago for our Anniversary, wrapping things up with a Blackhawks Game on Sunday. Will be stay till Monday.

Obviously we want to see a little bit of downtown--not looking to break the bank here...looking for something in the $100-125 a night range.

Your thoughts/recommendations??

Go on travelocity and search for hotels in Chicago. They have some good deals, particularly last minute.

Otherwise it's difficult to assess rates as it depends on a variety of factors. There is a La Quinta Inn on Franklin Street in the Loop that looks decent and is not expensive, though I don't know prices.

That La Quinta to the United Center is not a far cab ride. However, you will be in the Loop all weekend and it is pretty boring since all the businesses are closed, so you will have to take the L or a cab into downtown (north of the Loop) for restaurants and other things. Or you can go into the South Loop and go to the museums.

Ah good point. I'm driving, so getting to the game is no big deal (willing to pay for parking). I'd rather be in an area where there are things to do on Friday and Saturday night. Not looking for nightclubs...just a couple of good bars.

You might want to look into the Marriott at UIC/Medical Center. It is very close to the United Center. You won't need to drive to the game. Just take a cab ride for under $10. Ditto to get to good bars.

Found some great prices...however, they stick you with a nice $40/day parking fee...NICE! : (

If money is an issuen look for a hotel out near O'Hare close to the Blue Line or near Midway close to the Orange Line that does not charge for parking. Take the train downtown when you want to do stuff. You might want to drive in for the Blackhawks game though.

I think we will just suck it up and pay the $150 or so...it's worth it to stay downtown...walk around...and not have to drive. Probably stay down by the Navy yard. Seems to be centrally located for what we would like to do...eat/drink/shop etc etc.

Thanks Folks...
