I'd choose the west loop too, but my 2nd choice would be Oak Park.

The Ike is a fun compared to the I-5, but it can be congested and messy, too. Sometimes just leaving 30 minutes earlier or 30 minutes later can make a difference in the Chicago traffic experiemce. Sometimes.

... In a heartbeat for someone working in Oak Brook. I men for what I could rent at a nearly new place in either town, be under 10 minutes of drive time, save a huge amount monthly, have lots of options for dinning / wine bars it is no brainer.

Hipness factor is low (though Tony Fitzpatrick still has VP roots / connections and I think that is one of those creativie angle...) comparatively speaking, but if want hip head into the City...

Question, Calichi: you say you'll be working in Oak Brook, but where will your SO/partner/gf/bf be working? If you're not sure yet, that's another point for the city. Moving out to the western burbs only to have your partner get a job in a wholely different area would be tough!
